On July 27, Meritz Securities analyst Kim Sun-woo said that driven by one-time investment gains and a rise in semiconductor prices, SK hynix is expected to post record-breaking second-quarter results. The analyst estimated that SK hynix’s pre-tax profit from April to June will exceed 100 trillion won, including operating profit of 6.01 trillion won, as well as investment gains of 4.16 trillion won from holdings in Japanese firm Kioxia obtained through the U.S. private equity firm Bain Capital. This performance would surpass the company’s record operating profit of 5.88 trillion won set in the first quarter. He added that in the second quarter, DRAM and NAND storage chip prices rose by 30% and 49%, respectively. (Jin10)
