Mars Finance news: On July 27, half a year after being escorted back to China, Chen Zhi, the founder of Cambodia’s Prince Group, was placed under criminal detention and arrested. Chen Zhi had been officially approved for arrest on July 6. Compared with the charges when he was previously escorted back to China, the alleged offenses included fewer counts of concealing or disguising criminal proceeds, and added counts of copyright infringement and intentional injury. Over the years, Chen Zhi built a global telecommunications fraud network centered on the “Jinbei Park” zone, earning millions of gold every day as he held the title of duke; his net worth is in the hundreds of billions of dollars. Even the Bitcoin confiscated solely by the United States is valued at $15 billion (about RMB 103.5 billion). According to a briefing from the Ministry of Public Security, on January 7, 2026, with the support and cooperation of relevant Cambodian authorities, the Ministry of Public Security dispatched a working group to escort Chen Zhi (a Chinese national), the head of a major cross-border gambling and fraud criminal syndicate, from Phnom Penh, Cambodia, back to China. The briefing disclosed at the time that Chen Zhi’s criminal group was suspected of multiple crimes, including running a casino, fraud, illegal business operations, and concealing or disguising criminal proceeds, and that coercive measures had been taken in accordance with the law.
