An average-per-person barbecue steakhouse meal with roughly $100, and by 5 p.m. already it was fully booked and there was a long line. The ticketing number is only available about an hour and a half later. We switched to another restaurant of the same price range and type, and it was full by 5:30 as well, starting the queue. Basically, it’s mostly family gatherings with kids and the whole family.

Is consumer spending in the US (or is it just California?) really that strong? Didn’t they say the real economy is doing poorly? This isn’t Silicon Valley, either.
