🧠 Strategy’s BTC position enters a stress test

Strategy has not bought BTC for four straight weeks, and Saylor has again teased a new move with “another color.” The market’s prior core premium for MSTR came from it continuously swapping stock financing into BTC; after buying pauses, the premium will be pulled back to three things: the BTC position cost basis, financing capability, and dilution of the equity.
The data provided by The Block is: Strategy holds 843,775 BTC, with an average cost of $75,476; if BTC is about $64,600, the unrealized loss on paper is about $9.3 billion. This figure will change the angle of how the market discusses MSTR: when adding, people look at BTC leverage; when the unrealized loss grows, people look at financing costs, debt arrangements, and how much room exists for new share issuance.
The trading implications of this news are more about company valuation, not something you can judge purely by ordinary BTC sentiment. MSTR’s former advantage was building “predictable demand” through continuous buying, turning the company’s stock into a BTC exposure tool. Now that it has stopped for four straight weeks, the market will recalculate two variables: first, how low a cost the company can still finance at; second, whether new financing will dilute existing shareholders.
For BTC itself, with a less visible high-profile buyer, the narrative for marginal buy orders will weaken; for MSTR, the stock price may become more dependent on whether BTC can return to the $75,476 cost line. If the price keeps trading below the cost line, investors will shift attention from “how much BTC was bought” to “how to withstand unrealized losses and financing pressure.”
My verification order is simple: first, check whether the company resumes buying and where the funds come from; then, see whether BTC can move back toward the $75,476 position cost line. If buying resumes and financing conditions stay stable, the MSTR premium has a basis to be maintained further; if buying remains paused and the unrealized loss continues to widen, the market may first compress that portion of the premium.
