A reporter learned today (the 25th) from the China Society for Enterprise Reform and Development that the “2026 Energy Industry Ecosystem Report” was officially released. The report shows that during the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, China’s wind and solar power installed capacity historically surpassed thermal power, and the nuclear energy and biomass energy sectors have led globally. During the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, China’s energy industry achieved two-way coordinated development of secure energy supply and a green, low-carbon transition. In 2025, investment in key national energy projects exceeded 3.5 trillion yuan for the first time, up nearly 11% year on year. The new energy industry achieved leapfrog development: from 2020 to 2025, wind and solar installed capacity increased from 530 million kW to 1.84 billion kW. The total installed capacity of nuclear power in operation remained No. 1 globally, and the installed capacity of biomass power generation has ranked No. 1 globally for seven consecutive years.
