Iran’s foreign minister condemns Ukraine’s attack on Iranian merchant vessels, emphasizing that it will respond.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian Araghchi said in a post on social media on the 26th that a recent attack by Ukraine on an Iranian merchant vessel resulted in the death of a crew member, openly violating the UN Charter. Araghchi said the attack was carried out at Israel’s behest, with the aim of dragging Europe into the war. He said he had spoken by phone separately with the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kallas, and with Russia’s Foreign Minister Lavrov, and stressed that Ukraine’s actions “will never go unanswered.”

Also, according to a report by Iran’s Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting on the evening of the 26th, Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Baghaei said the United States is conveying messages to Iran, but Iran’s top priority is to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to protect the Iranian people from the “war crimes” carried out by the United States.
