Iran insider: Claims that the US and Iran will hold a new round of talks next week are untrue
A CCTV reporter learned from the Iranian side on the 10th that, in response to reports about “Iran and the United States holding a new round of talks next week,” an insider close to the Iranian negotiating team said the above claim is not true. The insider denied reports that “Islamabad’s negotiation preparations have already been finalized” and that “technical talks will continue next week,” and said these reports are false information with no factual basis. He emphasized that if there are any new developments in the negotiation process, related messages will only be released to the public through Iranian official channels, and that claims made by some foreign media lack credibility.
The news says that the day before, U.S. President Trump had just made fierce statements regarding the funeral ceremony for Iran’s late supreme leader Khamenei, and used vulgar language to claim that the two sides’ “understanding agreement has ended.” However, less than a day later, some media with links to the U.S. again reported that negotiations and technical consultations will still continue. Some observers believe this shift indicates that the U.S. government holds contradictory positions regarding reaching an agreement with Iran. (CCTV News)
