You clearly made a mistake, and the market rewarded you for it. Then you suddenly got excited and chased in, and it pumped the very next day!

When you should have left, you stubbornly held on. You held for a few days, and you somehow got out at breakeven!

You made money, but we trust our own instincts more.

I think losing money is actually simpler. I’ll just honestly look at my own trade statements. The biggest trouble is that kind of trade where I didn’t follow the plan but still ended up making money—then my brain will remember that kind of trade. Doing this like that is fine, and I can even make money; next time, when I run into it again, I’ll keep doing it! And with a bigger position. Then the market starts grinding you down, and you can’t find the reason!

I’ve also run into trades where I bought and it kept going up, or I sold and got left behind—I feel really bad. But at that time, I really should have sold. Being left behind is the cost the system makes me pay!

When I review, I won’t first look at profit or loss. It’s whether I’m executing according to my own trading logic. I know the market will reward bad behavior, but it won’t reward it forever—and through that reward, it makes the subsequent losses even bigger.
