Starting tonight, the US stock market has another way of playing that feels even more like crypto trading
CME has officially launched a single-stock futures contract. The first batch covers 55 stocks with 77 contracts in total, of which 22 are Micro versions. $NVDA, $TSLA, $AAPL, $META, $MU, $AMZN, $MSFT — basically all these popular stocks are on the list.
What’s actually best to watch for this is earnings season (for example, next week).
In the past, if a company suddenly blew up after-hours, the spot market couldn’t move; buying options would also require dealing with time value and implied volatility. Now there’s an additional cash-settled linear instrument—you don’t have to actually deliver shares, yet you can go long, short, or hedge directly. Micro contracts also lower the entry barrier, so you don’t have to carry a too-large position right away.
However, with the new product just launched, what you really need to observe is trading volume and the bid-ask spread. The list is impressive, but it doesn’t mean every stock will have enough liquidity. Especially in the few minutes when earnings are released, leverage combined with gaps—if you move a bit slower, the market will still teach you a lesson.
I feel the boundaries between traditional brokerages, futures exchanges, and Crypto platforms are getting more and more blurred. In the future, whoever can get users to act the moment the market moves first—that person is the KING.
