According to a U.S. CFTC notice, the Market Oversight Division has issued a consultative opinion, reminding designated contract markets that when submitting self-certifications for event contract series, they should not use overly broad, template-based certification documents. The CFTC said that combining a large number of potential event contract variants into a single certification may limit regulators’ ability to determine whether the platform has sufficiently disclosed contract terms, settlement methods, data sources, and compliance with core principles. The CFTC also noted that closely related event contracts may still be certified by category or apply for approval.
