I heard that in some places in China, they’ve started implementing a county-level management of school hiring model, and teachers are subject to a last-place elimination system. Schools aren’t allowed to hire all the foreign workers; even cleaning and cooking are rotated among teachers. Is that true or not? I searched around but I’m not very sure—does anything like that really exist? It just feels like, even though the birth rate is declining, the consequences shouldn’t show up that quickly.
