Good copy trading isn't about chasing the highest ROI.

I prefer traders who protect their capital, stay disciplined, and follow a clear strategy. Long-term consistency always catches my attention more than short-term hype.

What do you value more in a trader: ROI or consistency?

ROI is the outcome, consistency is the process; if the process is right, the result won’t be bad.

Common traits of good traders: risk awareness first, profits second.

The problem is that many people only look at ROI and ignore the risks behind it; once you follow in, you end up being the bag holder.

I choose consistency, because the most important thing for copy trading is determinism. If a trader can make you feel at ease and you don’t have to constantly watch the charts, then that’s a good trader. High ROI behind it often requires taking on high risk, which isn’t suitable for typical copy traders.

I prefer to look at a trader’s maximum drawdown and win rate. If they can keep drawdowns under 10% over the long term, even if the annualized return is only 30%, it’s more reliable than those who double their money in a single month.

Actually, ROI and consistency don’t conflict, but most people only focus on high ROI and aren’t willing to tolerate the corresponding volatility.

That’s spot on. A lot of beginners see someone doubling in a week and blindly follow, but the other person is using high leverage to gamble—after a few rounds, the principal is gone. What’s truly worth following are those who can generate stable profits for several consecutive months; even if returns aren’t high, the drawdowns are small.
