#夏日创作营 Musk Warns of SpaceX Short-Selling Risk

On July 26, according to CCTV Finance and Economics, this week Tesla’s stock fell by about 14.5% on the second day after its earnings report was released, as its Q2 performance missed expectations. Its market cap saw an evaporation of about $214.5 billion. Meanwhile, SpaceX, another space exploration technology company owned by Musk, is now more than a month past its initial public offering, and its stock has fallen below its offering price. Moreover, the number of investors betting on the stock’s decline continues to grow. Data shows that SpaceX’s short position has risen to about 32% of its outstanding shares.

In response, Musk warned that for institutions that maintain large-scale short positions in SpaceX over the long term, “the probability of survival is very low.”

What the market is still watching is whether SpaceX and Tesla could potentially merge. At the earnings call, Musk neither acknowledged nor denied it, only saying that business overlap between the two companies would continue to increase. Some analysts on Wall Street have increasingly come to view it as more likely that the two companies will ultimately reach a deal. $SPCX
