“Bavi” is approaching; Fujian will raise its typhoon emergency response to Level 2

This year’s Typhoon No. 9, “Bavi,” is moving toward the southeastern coast of China and approaching the country from the southeast. At 16:30 on July 10, the Fujian Meteorological Observatory upgraded the “typhoon warning” for “Bavi” to Level 2. According to relevant regulations, at 16:30 on July 10, Fujian’s Leading Group for Flood Control and Disaster Relief (Fujian Provincial Civil Defense and Emergency Management) raised the typhoon emergency response level to Level 2. Meteorological monitoring shows that at 16:00 on July 10, the center of Typhoon “Bavi” was about 850 kilometers southeast of the Zhejiang-Fujian border, having entered Fujian’s tropical cyclone alert zone, with maximum winds near the center reaching Level 13. It is expected that “Bavi” will move northwest at a speed of about 20 kilometers per hour, gradually approaching the coastal areas of Fujian and Zhejiang. It will land along the coast in the area from Xiapu, Fujian to Wenling, Zhejiang in the early hours of July 12. After landfall, it will continue moving northwest. The Fujian Leading Group for Flood Control and Disaster Relief requires that all localities and departments closely monitor the developments of Typhoon “Bavi” and its impacts on winds, rain, and waves, promptly adjust their responses, and make careful arrangements for prevention and protection measures. They must firmly and decisively organize evacuations and take shelter, and do solid work to respond to the situation. (Xinhua News Agency)
