From a downturn rebound, Intel has an opportunity for a value re-rating
Intel has faced multiple challenges in recent years, including a decline in market share, mounting pressure on profitability, and intensifying competition—so this Q2 earnings report is especially important. Revenue rose 25% year over year, the fastest growth rate in 15 years, which shows that the company’s reforms have started to deliver phased results.
This growth is not dependent on a single business; instead, multiple segments—including data centers, AI computing, and foundry services—have all contributed. In particular, rapidly rising demand for AI servers has increased both CPU unit sales and the average selling price, improving overall profitability.
In addition, the company raised its capital expenditure plans, indicating management’s intention to further expand advanced manufacturing capacity and provide foundry services to more customers in the future. This means Intel not only wants to do a strong job in chip design, but also aims to become a key global advanced manufacturing platform.
Although the advanced GPU market is still led by competitors, Intel has already found its own path to breakthrough. From AI server CPUs to advanced packaging to foundry services, the company is forming a more complete industrial layout.
For investors, the earnings growth suggests that the foundation for valuation repair has been laid. If, in the coming quarters, Intel can continue to maintain revenue growth, improve profitability, and expand orders, it not only has a chance to regain market recognition, but may also become an important growth force in the global semiconductor industry again. This earnings report feels more like a key milestone for the company to move into a new cycle.
