According to MacRumors, three users sued Apple in the U.S. federal court in California, claiming that after downloading a counterfeit Sparrow Wallet app from the App Store between May and August 2025, they each lost about $875k, $840k, and $120k worth of Bitcoin, for a total of about $1.8 million. The complaint alleges that Apple failed to adequately review and regulate apps before they were listed, and handled user reports in a timely manner. The legitimate Sparrow Wallet only supports Windows, macOS, and Linux and has not released an iOS version. The plaintiffs are seeking damages from Apple, including losses involving stolen funds; the related allegations are still pending in court.
