On July 26, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang posted an update on a social media platform, sharing a letter titled “Open-Weight Models and U.S. AI Leadership,” calling for the development of open-weight AI models. The letter Huang initially published included 25 signatory organizations. Now, the number of signatories has increased to 50, doubling the count. OpenAI is one of the 25 newly added institutions, and the other new additions include Google, AMD, Cisco, Cloudflare, GitHub, Block and Ollama. However, Anthropic and Amazon have never appeared in any version of the list, and their absence is the most noteworthy detail about the roster. (Jin Ten)
