You could say this short was able to be held and eaten down, but the key isn’t that you wait until you see it falling and then chase it—in the earlier high-level range when it was under pressure, I could already tell the sell pressure above never really disappeared. The price kept grinding around 0.21896, and even after several pushes higher, it still couldn’t hold. On a tape like this, I generally wouldn’t rush to get on board.
The hardest part was the middle stretch. The market kept jabbing back and forth; it looked like the shorts were going to get shaken out, and I’ll be honest—I was a little panicky. But what I was watching was that the bounce strength kept getting weaker, and the follow-through on the buy side didn’t keep up, so I didn’t change my call just because of one or two pops.
Later, it moved from 0.21896 all the way to 0.12364, and when the dump finally truly took off, the outcome of this trade was recorded as +1070.19%. After the sell-off accelerated, the waiting from earlier finally got a response.
Once you’ve been in crypto long enough, you know the biggest fear for shorts isn’t that the direction is wrong—it’s that you lose your own nerve first. I’m not going short because it’s dropping; it’s because the problem at the high end has been sitting there the whole time. Only by being patient and waiting for the market to confirm it—that’s the reason you can eat profits this time.
