BOSS open-sources its 3B Agent model; official tests exceed Qwen3.5 9B and Gemma4 12B

According to Beating monitoring by 动察, Nanbeige4.2-3B, an open-source project from Nangeige Lab under BOSS直聘, has been released. It has only about 3 billion parameters, yet it can simultaneously modify code, handle office documents, call complex tools, and operate terminals. Official tests show that in multiple general Agent and code Agent evaluations, it outperforms larger-parameter models Qwen3.5-9B and Gemma4-12B. On SWE-Bench Verified, it scored 63.6, while Qwen3.5-9B scored 53.1 and Gemma4-12B scored 44.2. Nanbeige4.2-3B makes the same group of model layers perform repeated computation twice, trading more compute for stronger capability. This allows small models to handle more complex tasks without adding parameters, but inference requires more compute and time. Nanbeige Lab aims to use small models to reduce the continuous calling cost of Agents. Nanbeige4.2-3B has opened its model weights and supports Transformers, SGLang, vLLM, llama.cpp, and Ollama.
