#IntelQ2RevenueSurges25%
INTEL'S STRONGEST GROWTH IN 15 YEARS: IS THE AI TURNAROUND FINALLY HERE?
A QUARTER THAT CHANGED THE NARRATIVE
After several years of restructuring, intense competition, and execution challenges, Intel has delivered a quarter that is changing how investors view the company.
For Q2 2026, Intel reported $16.1 billion in revenue, representing 25% year-over-year growth from $12.9 billion. That marks the company's fastest quarterly revenue expansion since Q3 2011, signaling that Intel's recovery is beginning to show measurable financial results rather than just strategic promises.
The market immediately responded, with shares initially surging following the earnings release as investors welcomed stronger-than-expected growth and improving profitability.
AI AND DATA CENTERS ARE LEADING THE COMEBACK
The biggest driver behind Intel's performance was its Data Center and AI (DCAI) business.
Revenue from this segment climbed to $6.3 billion, up 59% year over year, making it Intel's fastest-growing business. Enterprise customers continue expanding AI infrastructure, while hyperscale cloud providers are increasing investment in servers capable of supporting increasingly complex AI workloads.
Although GPUs remain central to AI training, CPUs continue playing a critical role in data processing, orchestration, storage management, and inference workloads. Intel's Xeon platform is benefiting from this expanding compute ecosystem as organizations build larger AI clusters.
PC DEMAND REMAINS STABLE
Intel's Client Computing and Physical AI business generated $8.9 billion in revenue, increasing 13% compared with the same quarter last year.
The results suggest that the PC market continues to stabilize following several years of weaker demand. Business upgrades, AI-enabled personal computers, and enterprise refresh cycles continue supporting steady processor demand across consumer and commercial markets.
Rather than relying on a single growth engine, Intel is benefiting from improvements across multiple business segments.
THE FOUNDRY BUSINESS CONTINUES TO PROGRESS
Intel Foundry reported $5.8 billion in revenue, representing 31% annual growth.
While the business still recorded an operating loss, management continues investing aggressively to build long-term manufacturing capacity.
CEO Lip-Bu Tan highlighted continued progress on Intel's 18A process technology, with manufacturing yields reportedly improving month after month. The advanced 18A-P node has entered risk production, while Fortinet has become Intel's first publicly identified external foundry customer for future security processors.
Although large-scale foundry expansion remains a long-term objective, these milestones indicate steady progress toward attracting additional external customers.
PROFITABILITY IS IMPROVING
Revenue growth was only part of the story.
Intel also delivered meaningful improvements in profitability.
• Non-GAAP gross margin increased to 41.8%, up from 29.7% one year earlier.
• Non-GAAP operating margin improved to 17.2%, compared with a negative margin during the same quarter last year.
• Non-GAAP earnings per share reached $0.42, significantly exceeding market expectations.
These improvements suggest that stronger demand is being supported by improved operational efficiency and disciplined cost management.
STRONG CASH FLOW SUPPORTS FUTURE INVESTMENT
Intel generated approximately $7 billion in operating cash flow during the quarter.
That financial strength provides additional flexibility to continue investing in manufacturing facilities, semiconductor equipment, advanced packaging technologies, and future production capacity.
These investments remain central to Intel's long-term strategy of strengthening both its product portfolio and its foundry business.
LOOKING AHEAD
Management guided Q3 2026 revenue between $15.8 billion and $16.8 billion, while projecting continued profitability.
Investors will likely focus on several important developments over the coming quarters:
• Continued growth in Data Center and AI revenue
• Additional external foundry customer announcements
• Progress of Intel's 18A manufacturing platform
• Expansion of AI infrastructure demand
• Further improvement in margins and cash generation
Consistent execution across these areas will determine whether Intel's recovery continues to gain momentum.
Intel's Q2 2026 earnings represent far more than a strong quarterly report.
The company delivered its fastest revenue growth in nearly fifteen years, accelerated AI and data center sales, improved margins, generated strong cash flow, and demonstrated continued progress in advanced semiconductor manufacturing.
While challenges remain particularly in scaling the foundry business and competing across the rapidly evolving AI semiconductor landscape the latest results provide meaningful evidence that Intel's turnaround strategy is translating into measurable financial performance.
