Forget Leverage. Forget Liquidations. Gate Just Made Directional Trading Stupid Simple.

Most traders know the drill: pick a coin, set leverage, obsess over margin ratios, pray you don't get liquidated on a 5-minute wick. It's exhausting and for short-term directional calls, the overhead kills the signal.

Gate just cut all that noise.

Their new Event Contracts strip derivatives down to the one thing you actually care about: where's the price going? No leverage dial. No margin calculator. No liquidation engine. You just pick a timeframe 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours decide if BTC or ETH goes up or down, buy contracts at a price between 0.01 and 0.99 USDT, and wait. That contract price is the market's probability estimate. If you're right, each winning contract settles at 1 USDT. If you're wrong, it settles at zero. Your max loss is what you paid at entry. That's it.

The mechanics are clean enough that you can explain them in one sentence to someone who's never traded anything: buy a side, hold or sell early, get paid if your call lands. And the "sell early" part matters there's a full order book, so you can take profit or cut losses before the clock runs out, no need to wait for settlement.

To kick this off, Gate is running a Launch Carnival through July 31 with three reward tiers worth $50,000 total:

First Order Loss Coverage your debut trade goes south? The first 2,000 users get compensated up to $5. A decent safety net for learning the ropes.

Profit Doubling net profits from Event Contracts get doubled, up to $500 per user. The $20K pool pays out in descending order of profit until it's drained.

Trade Sprint hit $1,000 cumulative volume and you share a $20K pool proportional to your volume, capped at $1K per user.

To get in: update to Gate App v8.28.5, head to Futures → Events, and you're there. First-timers need to complete a brief Innovation Trading Disclaimer quiz standard compliance, takes a minute.

The broader context is worth noting. Prediction markets and event contracts are having a moment right now across the entire financial landscape from regulated US exchanges to crypto-native platforms. Gate's version is specifically tuned for crypto price direction, which is the use case most of us actually trade on daily. The zero-leverage, capped-risk design also makes it one of the more approachable entries into this product category.

That said, these are still short-cycle directional instruments. The risk is real you can lose your entire entry cost on a wrong call. The simplicity is a feature, not a guarantee. Trade within your limits.
