Researchers from Sungkyunkwan University, together with colleagues from Wisconsin and Washington, have theoretically described a spin qubit based on zinc oxide — a molybdenum-oxygen vacancy defect with a coherence time of ~4 ms and highly efficient single readout. Unlike diamond NV centers, ZnO is compatible with standard semiconductor manufacturing.
