Crypto news: The crypto industry is expected to contribute a total economic output of $55 billion to the U.S. economy in 2026, supporting 232,000 jobs, including 34,000 directly at crypto companies. Data show that the number of people directly employed in the crypto industry exceeds industries such as coffee and tea manufacturing, aerospace, robotics, cement, and tobacco. The average annual salary for direct roles is $133,000, more than twice the national median wage ($64,000). The NCA said the crypto industry’s economic contribution affects multiple sectors, with the largest share coming from securities and commodity contract investment at $9.7 billion, followed by $4.8 billion for housing and real estate. Employment is concentrated in California, New York, Texas, Washington, and North Carolina, while Colorado and North Dakota have seen significant increases due to favorable regulation and energy resources. 67 million Americans hold crypto assets; the U.S. ranks second globally in adoption rates, and 60% of Fortune 500 companies are pursuing related blockchain projects.
