Crypto界网 news: Philippine bank (BPI) is preparing a stablecoin payment pilot, aiming to speed up and reduce the cost of overseas payments to remote workers in the Philippines. The bank plans to work with global digital clearing organization Meridian to develop a stablecoin-based cross-border payment settlement system, reducing the cost and processing time of incoming payments while preserving the security safeguards of traditional bank transactions. BPI president and CEO Jose Theodore Lincaco said that exploring stablecoin settlement is a natural extension of the bank’s digitalization strategy, with the goal of getting funds to recipients’ accounts faster and cheaper. The pilot will initially focus on payroll and other overseas income, and BPI plans to roll it out more broadly before the 49th ASEAN Summit in November.
