The China Enterprise Reform and Development Research Association released the “2026 Energy Industry Ecosystem Report,” showing that during the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, China’s installed wind and solar power capacity historically surpassed thermal power, while nuclear energy and biomass energy took the lead globally. During the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, China’s energy industry achieved coordinated, two-way development of ensuring secure energy supply and a green, low-carbon transition. In 2025, investment in key national energy projects exceeded 3.5 trillion yuan for the first time, increasing by nearly 11%. The new energy industry achieved leapfrog development: from 2020 to 2025, installed wind and solar capacity grew from 530 million kW to 1.84 billion kW. The total installed capacity of nuclear power in operation remained the world’s number one. The installed capacity of biomass power generation has ranked first globally for seven consecutive years.
