🪙 World (WLD) attracted $52.5 million — tokens are locked for a year

Biometric startup World by Sam Altman has completed the sale of WLD tokens to institutional investors for $52.5 million. The key condition of the deal is a full lock-up of all acquired tokens for 12 months.

A one-year lock-up means institutional buyers will not be able to sell the tokens until this period expires — despite market volatility. This points to a long-term interest from major players in the decentralized digital identity segment, especially in the context of the growth of AI technologies.

World is building biometric identity verification infrastructure using an orb — an iris-scanning device. The WLD token is the native asset of the project ecosystem.
