Honestly, the hardest part of this trade wasn’t finding the opportunity—it was that quiet stretch of time before the market finally kicked off, so calm it made you doubt yourself. $ETH had been grinding at the highs for a long time. I saw the pull getting harder and harder to force, so I shorted around 2111.63 and first waited for the order flow to reveal its own crack.
At the beginning, the price didn’t drop right away—instead, it repeatedly poked upward. The short position was pretty uncomfortable for a while. A lot of people probably would’ve panicked and bailed then, but I was watching to see whether, after the push up, there would be fresh support. In the end, every time it was just a feint—the buy orders didn’t truly follow through.
Then when the price fell from 2111.63 to 1857.24, the downward momentum clearly accelerated. In the end, this record showed +2093.86%. I held myself back earlier without chasing, and I wasn’t shaken out by a shakeout. Only later did the drawdown finally reach my lips—actually getting to me, not just on paper.
In crypto, opportunities often hide in places where nobody has the patience to wait. If you get excited too early, you end up chasing orders; if you deny it too early, you’ll miss out. Looking back now, the most worth reviewing from this short isn’t the outcome—it’s that I didn’t let short-term swings make the decision for me.
