Gold and silver closed the week with a strong risk premium bid, even as crypto held range.

Spot gold traded near $4,052.84, with day high $4,082.16 and low $4,022.06. That print shows $4,000 holds as key pivot after a huge year. Spot silver closed near $57.19 yesterday, still near multi-year peak after a 119% year over year surge in some markets. In India, 22-carat gold rose from Rs 1,05,080 to Rs 1,08,000 per sovereign over five days, silver held near Rs 2,45,000 per kg, MCX silver July 2026 hit Rs 2,76,081 per kg up 1.56% on day.
Driver stack is clear:
1. US-Iran tension. Crude over $85 on Hormuz risk lifted gold as hedge. Gold often leads when oil shocks hit and real yields jump.
2. Fed July 28-29. Real yield curve and dollar index set floor. Hawkish hold caps gold toward $4,000-$3,920 support, dovish tilt opens $4,120-$4,200 and even $4,250 if oil breaks $92.
3. Physical flow. Central bank buying plus seasonal demand in Asia gave dip support. Central flows have been net buyer for months, a solid base.
4. Crypto link. Bitcoin held $65,500-$66,900 band, up 2.8% on week, Ether near $1,917 up 2% on week, despite equity tech trim. When BTC holds $65k-$66k and ETF inflow stays green - $727M over five days - risk appetite stays alive for both metals and crypto. In thin spot tape, spot volume down to $1.95T, down 27.9% quarter over quarter, stablecoin cap eased to $305.1B, Tether near $184.4B share 60%, USDC $73.5B, ETF flow acted as anchor. That is why gold and BTC moved together on oil spike day.
Silver edge: Silver beta beats gold when industrial demand meets investment bid. Solar, EV, and data center power gear drive fab demand. Eyes on $60.70 top, support $54.50. Gold/silver ratio fell to 70-71, a shift that favors silver versus gold in risk-on.
Alt beta check: WLFI surged 12.18% to $0.063 Thursday, MORPHO rose near 4% to $1.989, ENA added 2% to $0.092, LIT slid 2.96% after a big run. That split shows hunt for beta while majors held range, same hunt that lifts silver over gold when risk returns.
Playbook: Gold - scale long $4,020-$4,000, stop $3,950, target $4,150-$4,220. Silver - long above $55.80, target $57.80 and $60.20, stop $53.90. In crypto, hold BTC core above $65k, ETH above $1,850, add on break over $66,900 with volume. Keep leverage low into Fed, track oil and real yield for next leg.
