Japan sees a “severe heat day” for 5 straight days, setting a new historical record

According to a report from Japan’s Meteorological Agency on the 25th, on the same day, a maximum temperature of 40.2°C was observed in Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture. This was Japan’s “Extreme Heat Day” for the fifth consecutive day with extreme temperatures of 40°C or above, setting a new record for the longest consecutive stretch in history.
