BTC under pressure from geopolitical tensions: can support hold at $BTC
On July 24, Bitcoin continues to trade under pressure from external factors, showing a moderate decline after several days of volatile movement. Over the past 24 hours, the price has fallen by approximately 0.95%, and intraday movement remains relatively narrow, indicating caution among market participants. Despite the absence of panic selling, buyers are still unable to regain control, and the market is in a consolidation phase. The next trading sessions may be decisive for shaping the short-term trend.
The main factor behind the pressure remains rising geopolitical tension. Fears of further escalation in the conflict between the US and Iran are pushing investors to cut positions in risk assets and shift capital into more defensive instruments. Additional uncertainty is created by risks to global energy supplies, which keeps oil prices high and heightens concerns about inflation. Under these conditions, Bitcoin—like most risk assets—faces additional pressure.
Another important factor is expectations for further monetary policy from the US Federal Reserve. Higher oil prices can support inflationary pressure, increasing the likelihood that elevated interest rates will persist for longer. A strong US dollar and increased yields on US government bonds traditionally curb inflows of capital into the crypto market. That is why even positive local news is not yet enough to form a sustained upward momentum.
The negative backdrop is also supported by conditions in the US stock market. Weak corporate results from some companies and a broad decline in risk appetite are affecting investor sentiment. New trade restrictions have added further uncertainty about global economic prospects. As a result, markets are showing more cautious behavior, which is also reflected in Bitcoin’s price dynamics.
From a technical perspective, sellers still maintain the advantage. On shorter timeframes, moving averages remain oriented downward, and the ADX indicator signals a strengthening of the current trend’s momentum. At the same time, the market is not showing signs of panic yet, so local pullbacks remain quite possible. The next direction of movement will largely depend on the news backdrop and buyer activity near key support levels.
In the near term, it is worth closely watching these levels:
• support at $AKE • the psychological level at $1CAT • the price reaction to attempts to hold above local highs;
• changes in trading volumes while testing support.
It is also important to monitor external factors that could affect the market:
• Brent crude oil price dynamics;
• the US dollar index (DXY);
• yields on 10-year US Treasury notes;
• news about the geopolitical situation;
• statements by representatives of the Federal Reserve.
The current market situation suggests that Bitcoin remains sensitive to global economic and political events. If geopolitical tensions start to ease and inflation risks weaken, the market could quickly regain interest in risk assets. At the same time, a further deterioration in the external backdrop could lead to a renewed test of lower support levels. That is why in the coming days investors and traders should place special emphasis on risk management and closely monitor both fundamental and technical signals.
