Deep Tide TechFlow news, July 25: Meta announced the launch of the free “Facebook Verified” service. Users can obtain a checkmark badge after recording a selfie video to verify their identity. The feature is available to personal accounts that are 18 years or older, meet community standards, and have no fraudulent behavior, and is intended to ensure that the account behind the badge is a real user rather than an AI-generated fake account. The badge will be rolled out in phases, with plans to expand to global markets in the future. Previously, Meta had provided blue badge verification through paid subscriptions; the launch of this free badge marks a major adjustment to its identity verification strategy.
