How should you properly deal with positions that are underwater?
Recently, many friends have encountered sudden drops and fallen into deep lock-ups. In trading, getting stuck in bad trades is a common occurrence; the most important thing is to master a scientific approach to self-rescue.
Holding on stubbornly is absolutely not advisable. Gambling that you can “tough it out” might survive a hundred rounds of fluctuations, but once you run into an extreme one-way downward move that triggers risk, all the accumulated profits over the long term will be wiped out. Being underwater itself isn’t what’s frightening—what’s scary is having a sense of luck, being unwilling to adjust in time, and not understanding rational trade-offs.
Rationally reducing your position in batches and using support levels to add a modest amount is the key to getting unstuck. As to which ranges to reduce, and what levels you should continue holding, I can provide a complete response plan based on everyone’s entry price points.
