Claude engineers’ team has given up on Markdown.

Not because Markdown isn’t useful, but because AI is evolving too fast—it can’t keep up.
In the past, generating 10 lines of notes with Markdown was just right; now it generates 1,000 lines of plans, complex flowcharts, and code reviews—dense text that’s impossible to make sense of.
Markdown’s biggest advantage—“easy to edit by hand”—is now completely unnecessary.
HTML is the real communication tool of the AI era: colored tables, SVG flowcharts, interactive prototypes, drag-and-drop sorting, parameter debugging, one-click export, and share links that work out of the box.
Three most practical uses: generating colored diffs for code review, generating interactive dashboards for project planning, and generating a prompt optimizer for parameter tuning.
The cost is using more tokens and taking 2–4 times longer to generate, but the 10x improvement in the experience is absolutely worth it.
At its core, it’s an upgrade to human–machine collaboration.
