South Korean officials: During Lee Jae-myung’s visit to the U.S., Samsung Electronics and SK hynix will sign major agreements with U.S. companies
Deep Tide TechFlow message: On July 24, Kim Yong-beom, head of the policy office in the Office of the President of South Korea, said that during President Lee Jae-myung’s visit to Silicon Valley, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix will sign major agreements involving “huge” sums of money with major US technology companies. These agreements may include new long-term memory chip supply agreements, strategic cooperation and investment partnership deals, and memorandums of understanding. He did not specify the amounts.
Kim said President Lee Jae-myung’s visit acted as a “catalyst,” helping bring long-running negotiations between Korean and US companies to a close.
Lee Jae-myung departed for the United States on Friday. He will attend an AI summit and hold talks with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, OpenAI co-founder Altman, Anthropic co-founder Dario Amodei, and Broadcom chief executive officer Hock Tan, respectively. (Jin10)
