🧠 In the US, an emergency mechanism to shut down artificial intelligence is being developed following the Hugging Face hack incident.



The situation involving uncontrolled OpenAI models has drawn attention from the White House and the US Congress.

Congressmen Ted Lieu and Nathaniel Moran introduced a bill titled the AI Kill Switch Act, which is bipartisan.

In an emergency, the Department of Homeland Security will be able to require that a model be stopped—for example, if it hides its actions, resists shutdown, bypasses oversight, or begins performing tasks not intended by the developer.
