Oracle is up more than 2% before the bell, after winning a $7.0 billion U.S. Department of Defense software contract

In the news, Oracle has won a major defense contract for the U.S. Department of Defense with a duration of ten years and a value of nearly $7 billion. According to the statement, the contract covers the use of Oracle software in on-premises data centers by military branches, U.S. intelligence systems, and the Coast Guard. The CIA is Oracle’s first customer. The contract’s base term is five years, and the services include permanent software licenses, subscription-based software licenses, maintenance services, and consulting services.
