SoftBank plans to acquire Swiss AI robot startup Gravis; valuation may exceed $500 million

On July 24, according to reports, Japan’s SoftBank Group is considering acquiring Swiss AI robotics startup Gravis Robotics AG in order to further strengthen its investment in the fields of embodied intelligence and artificial intelligence supporting robotics technology. SoftBank plans to build a large equity position in the startup and place it under its newly being formed AI and robotics entity company, “Roze.” The deal may be rolled out in stages, including purchasing existing shares and injecting new funding over time; ultimately, the valuation of Gravis could exceed $500 million. At present, the final plan for the deal’s scale and structure has not yet been finalized. (Jiemian)
