Wu Says he learned that CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost posted that the activity of Bitcoin UTXOs held for 5 to 10 years has risen noticeably recently, with transfers exceeding 5,000 BTC on some dates. There are currently no signs that the related funds are simultaneously flowing into exchanges; it may mainly be due to wallet migrations or security adjustments rather than coordinated sell-offs. Similar anomalies also occurred when BTC tested around $60k in February to March.

These long-term holder addresses move slightly and the market gets tense; actually it’s most likely just switching wallets or reorganizing UTXOs. Last time it was 60k as well, and in the end it still made a new high.

Honestly, instead of staring at these on-chain anomalies, you’d be better off looking at macro liquidity. Old-timers know this—this kind of data is just noise; it’s the trend that matters.

From the data, it’s true there haven’t been any inflows to exchanges—so there’s no need to overinterpret it. On-chain anomalies are often treated as “distribution/exit” signals, but in reality many are just technical operations. Addresses holding for 5–10 years are basically old OGs; they know how to manage their assets and wouldn’t do something as foolish as dumping. Also, similar situations happened before BTC tested 60k—back then, it was also just a false alarm. So stay calm and carry on with what you’re doing.

Every time the UTXO moves, someone calls for a crash—what happened in the end? 5,000 coins are just a drop in the bucket for the overall market. Don’t scare yourself.

Haha, the big holders who’ve been holding for 5–10 years are probably already financially free. What they’re messing with their wallets for these days is probably upgrading security measures or doing estate planning. Either way, it’s not about dumping.

The analyst’s take is quite reasonable—no synchronized inflow into exchanges implies there isn’t much sell pressure. Still, keep an eye on whether there will be any move to transfer to exchanges later; continue monitoring.
