⚖️ How do stablecoins maintain a peg to the US dollar? Rules have changed

How does a stablecoin anchor 1 dollar? Two core mechanisms.
The 1-dollar peg of a stablecoin is not achieved automatically, but is instead propped up by two sets of mechanisms:
1. Reserves / collateral: Behind each token, there must be sufficient assets (such as dollars, treasury bonds, or crypto) to back it—this is the bottom line that keeps the price from crashing. Reserve transparency for USDT/USDC has long been a market focus.
2. Arbitrageurs: When the market price deviates from 1 dollar, arbitrageurs earn the spread by minting/redeeming to pull the price back. For example, when the market price is $0.99, buying and redeeming for profit pushes the price up.
For traders, watching reserve audits and on-chain arbitrage activity can help them detect de-pegging risk early.
