I just went out for a stroll, and unexpectedly I ran into a rare North American porcupine on the road inside my residential complex. It was small, about the size of a rabbit; its body was black and its quills were white. When it saw me, all its quills stood up. It was really beautiful. The streetlights were dim, and I wanted to take out my phone to snap a photo, but the moment I pulled out my phone, it darted into the roadside tree thickets and disappeared without a trace.

This is the third animal I’ve unlocked on my walks, besides coyotes and deer.
