We recommend Baoding’s Baiyangdian. It’s really enjoyable to take a boat on the lake and eat fish, but the weather is a bit cold this season—so be sure to dress warmly. You should definitely go to a Tianjin crosstalk teahouse and listen at least once, to experience the humor of the “Hedou” (hè du) style.

As someone who once lived in Shijiazhuang, I strongly recommend you head to the City College Snack Street on Yuhua Road. It’s especially lively at night—there’s everything from grilled mianjin (grilled gluten skewers) to fried skewers and stinky tofu. Candied roasted chestnuts from Baoding are also quite famous, especially the kind with thin skin that’s easy to peel. In Tianjin, try Erduyao Fried Cake and Goubuli (locals don’t really eat Goubuli that much, but you can give it a try—then maybe sample other long-established brands too). For Langfang, if you have time, you can go to Xianghe to eat authentic Xianghe meat pancakes, with a thin crust and a hearty filling. The Baoding donkey meat fire-baked flatbread is really amazing—definitely find a shop that does it fresh on the spot. Pair it with millet porridge and you’ll be completely overwhelmed by the fragrance. For Langfang, you can go check out Tianxia No. 1 City; even though it’s a man-made attraction, it’s still quite grand.

You should definitely try Shijiazhuang’s Anhui-style noodles (though it’s really a Shijiazhuang specialty); many longtime shops are tucked away in alleys. In Baoding, besides donkey-fire skewers, the Zhili Viceroy’s Office is also worth visiting—you can really feel the history. Tianjin’s breakfast culture is too rich—it's recommended to wake up early and go to the northwest corner to experience it: guoba dishes, old tofu, and candied snacks—so much that you’ll end up stuffed. Have a great time this week—no rush on updates!

Although Langfang doesn’t have much presence, it has a Wanda Plaza and a natural park, making it great for strolling around. Tianjin Eye is very romantic at night, though the line is long.
