French President Macron personally called to congratulate Wang Hong on winning the Fields Medal!

"I wanted to call you personally to congratulate you on this amazing good news. Truly remarkable—we are proud of this Fields Medal!"
Wang Hong is also an outstanding example of the openness and its appeal of the French mathematical school
Born in 1991 in Guilin, Guangxi, Wang Hong is currently a lifetime professor at the Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques in France—also the first Chinese person to become a lifetime professor in the institute’s history.
She and her team published 127 pages of papers, tackling the 3D galloping valley conjecture that has troubled the mathematics community for more than a century, and achieving a major breakthrough in harmonic analysis.
