Do you know why you can’t make money 💰?
At least one basic problem is a lack of understanding of trading fundamentals: high-frequency operations, going all-in with heavy positions—only losses. You keep looking around for other people’s free entry points; if you could still make money 💰 this way, then even fools could do it.
So many people have found me. First, I check whether they have the potential to trade. If they’re naturally a gambling addict, then I don’t want to lead them or teach them at all.
1. Make small profits and run; take big losses and hold on until you die (loser’s game)
This is the most fatal. Human nature hates losses, so when you’re making money you want to “lock in gains” (take off after earning 10%); when you’re losing, you want to “get back to even and leave” (hold on after losing 20%). The result is: cutting off profits and letting losses run. As soon as you’re wrong once with a big loss, all the small gains from the previous 9 times are for nothing.
2. The win-rate trap (frequent trading)
You always want to catch every move. If you don’t trade for a day, you get restless. The more frequent the trading, the more your fees get ground down, and the higher the chance of mistakes. The market is in a range about 80% of the time. In that choppy environment, constantly going long/short to try to catch everything usually ends with you getting slapped around back and forth.
3. Treat “luck” as “ability”
When you make money in a bull market or when the conditions are good, you mistakenly think you’ve figured it out. So you increase your position size. The money you earn by luck will definitely be lost back by ability at the end, because your system hasn’t been tested through a complete bull-and-bear cycle.
4. Always go all-in with one “shot”
You don’t understand money management, and you end up full-positioning at the drop of a hat. Even if you’re right about the direction, any normal pullback (20%-30%) will shake you out of the trade. With your principal gone, you’re no longer relevant even if the price later rockets.
