Trump threatens large-scale attack on Iran, Brent crude breaks $100, Bitcoin drops below 65k
On July 23, US President Trump confirmed to Axios that he is considering launching an “unprecedented large-scale military operation” against Iran, saying, “I’m close to making a decision.” On the same day, the Iran-backed Houthis used ballistic and cruise missiles to attack two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea, causing Brent crude to surge 7% in a single day and break above $100.66 per barrel, while WTI crude rose 6.3% to $92.28. The spike in oil prices has reignited inflation concerns, and traders have pushed up the Fed’s probability of a rate hike in September from single digits to nearly 40%. Bitcoin then fell below $65,000, with a 24-hour drop of about 2%. Earlier in July, when Trump announced the end of the Iran ceasefire, BTC had also crashed 3% in a single day to $61,691. Goldman Sachs warned that if disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz and the Strait of Mandeb persist, Brent could break $120.
Market impact assessment: Negative (geopolitical conflict escalation + inflation expectations re-ignited + rate-hike odds jump—triple pressure on risk assets)
Affected assets: BTC, ETH, SOL, risk assets across the market

Bitcoin spot ETF records net inflows for 7 straight days, nearing $1 billion! Ethereum ETF pulls in more than BTC in a single day
According to Sosovalue data, on July 23, US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded net inflows of $68.99 million, the 7th consecutive trading day of net inflows. Total net inflows over 7 days reached $999.4 million, nearing the $1 billion mark. BlackRock’s IBIT led the day with $38.78 million in inflows, followed by Grayscale’s Bitcoin mini trust with $37.88 million, while Fidelity’s FBTC contributed $21.49 million. Most notably, Ethereum ETFs recorded net inflows of $72.64 million on the day, surpassing Bitcoin ETFs. BlackRock’s ETHA attracted $53.47 million in inflows in a single day, and Fidelity’s FETH contributed $19.18 million; none of the Ethereum ETFs recorded net outflows. ETH ETFs have now logged net inflows for 4 consecutive days, totaling $184.9 million. However, SOL ETFs recorded net outflows of $1.27 million.
Market impact assessment: Positive (institutional capital keeps flowing in, BTC+ETH dual engine, ETF demand provides a buffer against declines)
Affected assets: BTC, ETH, ETF concept sector

Robinhood CEO’s X account hacked—“Vladhood” token scam swindles $1.3 million
On July 23, the X account of Robinhood co-founder and CEO Vlad Tenev (nearly 800k followers) was hacked. It posted a fake promotion for a token called “Vladhood” (VLAD), falsely claiming it was an official Robinhood Chain mascot and that it would soon launch on the Robinhood App. The token’s market cap briefly surged to about $10 million. Before the crash, the hacker cashed out about 690 ETH (about $1.3 million). Robinhood’s official communications account confirmed the breach the same day and deleted the posts. About 70% of the token supply is controlled by the earliest wallets, and liquidity was never locked. Since going live on July 1, Robinhood Chain (an Ethereum L2 built on Arbitrum Orbit) has accumulated $9 billion in DEX trading volume, but it has been dominated by high-risk MEME coins rather than the RWA track it targets.
Market impact assessment: Negative (security issues with the executive’s account exposed a trust loophole, MEME coin chaos harms Robinhood Chain’s ecosystem reputation)
Affected assets: ARB (Robinhood Chain built on Arbitrum), MEME sector

CLARITY Act Senate push incoming! 7 Democrats publicly oppose the current draft
On July 22, Senate Republicans released an updated version of the CLARITY Act, adding an ethics provision that bans federal officials (including the president) from issuing or sponsoring digital assets; violators would be fined $250k per day. However, on the same day, seven Democratic senators issued a joint statement saying the current version still falls short in “official ethics, consumer protection, illegal finance, conflicts of interest, and market integrity,” with two of them having previously voted in favor on the Banking Committee. Senate Majority Leader Thune said next week he will force a full Senate vote regardless of whether Democrats support it. On Polymarket, the probability of the bill being signed in 2026 has fallen from 60% in May to 39%. The bill needs 60 votes to break through a prolonged debate; the Republicans currently have only 54 seats, leaving a large gap.
Market impact assessment: Neutral to positive (the regulatory framework direction hasn’t changed, but near-term political games increase uncertainty)
Affected assets: BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, across the market (the bill will clarify SEC/CFTC jurisdiction)
BTC-1.66%
ETH-2.59%
GS-2.18%
BZ2.61%
SOL-2.51%
