The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) has signed a software agreement worth nearly $7 billion with Oracle, with a term of up to 10 years

Odaily Planet Daily reports: The U.S. Department of Defense announced that it has signed an enterprise software agreement with Oracle with a total value of nearly $7 billion and a term of up to 10 years. The agreement will consolidate the Department of Defense’s existing on-premises software licenses into a single contract to reduce costs arising from fragmented procurement. Negotiations for the agreement were handled by the U.S. Navy, and it will last for 5 years, including a 5-year renewal option. It covers the U.S. Department of Defense, the Coast Guard, and intelligence agencies. Previously, in May this year, the U.S. Department of Defense had signed a similar software consolidation agreement with Microsoft worth $9.69 billion for 5 years. (Reuters)
