When I thought this move was completely out of the picture, the market instead gave the shorts a clear exit. It looked lively at first, but once it actually started moving, I realized the bid support had already been loose for a long time.
A few days ago in the afternoon session, there was repeated choppy fluctuation. Each time $DOT tried to push higher, it barely didn’t make it; the rebound didn’t have staying power, the trading volume was on the low side, and the overhead pressure felt like a lid that hadn’t moved at all. I was watching the changes in DOT and judged that this wasn’t a comfortable place to chase; it would be better to wait for it to pull back and confirm before going short.
The short position was opened around 1.223. Now the price has come to 0.815. This round of review is +2367.11%—no wasted waiting, and the outcome speaks for itself.
Close 80% of the position first, and keep the remaining 20% under observation; move the protection level to around the cost basis. Take the bulk off first. If it continues to fall, let the profits run. If it rebounds instead, it won’t end up hurting the portion that has already been realized.
Panic comes from having no plan; losses come from overthinking. If you chase in now, it’s easy to get stuck by a rebound. Missing this leg isn’t a big deal either—once the next round of a new structure appears, I’ll alert you right away.
