Odaily Planet Daily reports that on July 22, Korean pollster Realmeter conducted a survey of 504 adults aged 18 and above nationwide in South Korea. The results show that the public in South Korea has a clearly negative attitude toward the launch of single-stock leveraged ETFs. The survey found that 63.7% of respondents believe introducing single-stock leveraged ETFs is the “wrong decision,” including 41.2% who think it is “very wrong” and 22.5% who think it is “generally wrong.” By comparison, the proportion who think the decision is correct is 19.0%, and another 17.4% said they are “not sure.”

Regarding the supplemental measures for single-stock leveraged ETFs announced by South Korea’s financial regulators on the 16th, 59.2% of respondents said they are “not sufficient.” For further improving the measures, the highest support rate was for “limiting the number of times that can be traded per day,” at 24.1%; next were “significantly raising the base margin requirements” (22.2%), “significantly raising the minimum trading unit requirements” (21.5%), and “expanding mandatory investor education time” (10.6%).
