XAU Analysis and Trading Suggestions Today

After a sharp plunge, weak consolidation! The 4040 life-and-death line is temporarily holding, but downside risk hasn’t been eliminated!

At the end of trading on Friday, gold surged to 4140 but met resistance and then collapsed. In today’s Asia session, selling accelerated downward; the low touched 4040, a key support, followed by a weak rebound. Currently, it’s trading around 4052. Overall, it shows a bearish-dominated pattern of “a breakdown at high levels with a weak rebound.” The balance between buyers and sellers is seriously imbalanced. 4040 is the last line of defense for short-term longs; once it breaks, it will open up more downside space.

Technical indicators are fully dominated by bearish signals: the TRIX trend indicator continues to extend its death cross downward, with bearish momentum accelerating and releasing; the MACD fast and slow lines are deeply in a death cross below the 0 axis, and the green momentum histogram continues to increase, showing that bearish power is still in its peak stage, with rebound space tightly restricted. The RSI falls below the 30 oversold zone; although there may be a need for a very short-term technical correction, it’s unlikely to change the medium-term downtrend. The moving average system shows a standard bearish arrangement: the 5-day, 10-day, and 20-day moving averages all diverge downward in sync. Price remains under pressure below the moving average system, further reinforcing the bearish-dominant structure.

Specific trading suggestions: Watch how price reacts under pressure in the 4070-4090 zone above and the 4115-4135 zone. If it reaches the area and holds under pressure without breaking, you can consider shorting. Target 4050-4030. If 4000 support breaks, continue to maintain the bias of looking for further downside.
