IBM to Acquire HRL Laboratories to Advance the Future of Quantum Technology

Golden Finance reported that on July 23, IBM today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire its flagship research and development firm, HRL Laboratories, LLC (HRL). HRL is a private company jointly owned by Boeing and General Motors. After the transaction is completed, Boeing and General Motors will continue to work with IBM on quantum applications and advanced technology development. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed. IBM’s acquisition of HRL is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of the third quarter of 2026.
