AMD drops more than 5% in the short term; Helios AI chip is about to ship

On July 24, AMD’s stock price fell in the short term, with losses of more than 5% during intraday trading. On the news front, AMD’s Helios artificial intelligence server chip has entered full production, and is expected to officially ship soon. The product is viewed by the market as an important piece for AMD’s push into the high-end AI accelerator market, and it will directly compete with NVIDIA’s MI450 series. #美股 #夏日创作营

Is “good news already priced in” actually a bad sign? Short-term funds used the opportunity to run away.

It’s actually taking Helios so long to reach mass production, but the market has already been waiting for this moment. The MI450 has already been iterated; AMD is only now catching up to the level of its rival’s previous generation, so short-term share-price pressure is entirely normal. However, in the long run, at least there’s finally an entry ticket for high-end AI chips—waiting until the earnings report comes in above expectations before coming back to take over positions is not too late.
